The problem

The homeowner's 22-year-old furnace was failing and the existing ductwork had significant leakage at connections.

They wanted to take advantage of BC heat pump rebate programs while improving indoor air quality.

What we found

Load calculations showed the existing duct sizing was adequate for the selected heat pump with minor modifications at the air handler connection.

The electrical panel required a dedicated circuit upgrade, coordinated with a licensed electrician.

The solution

We installed a cold-climate air-source heat pump with integrated backup heat, sealed and reconnected existing ductwork, and commissioned the system per manufacturer specifications.

Result

The system qualified for provincial rebates. The homeowner reported improved comfort and lower heating costs through the first winter.
