15 years of waterproofing experience
Waterproofing & rainscreen systems
Decks, balconies, foundations, planters, parkades, and envelope transitions — waterproofed and integrated with ventilated rainscreen assemblies built for the coastal climate.
What waterproofing covers
- Decks and balconies
- Foundations and below-grade walls
- Planters and roof gardens
- Parkades and below-grade parking
- Envelope transitions and penetrations
- Flashing and sealant systems
Exterior finish — sheds bulk water
WRB membrane — secondary drainage plane
Structural substrate — must stay dry
Rainscreen explained
A ventilated rainscreen cavity behind the cladding allows water to drain and the assembly to dry. Combined with a continuous weather barrier, this is the standard for durable envelope performance in Vancouver.
Membranes and materials
We select the membrane system based on the application — hot-applied rubberized asphalt and sheet-applied, self-adhered membranes for decks, balconies, and below-grade work; liquid-applied membranes for detailing around penetrations and transitions; and built-up or single-ply systems for roofs. We work with established suppliers to the BC market, including Soprema, Henry, IKO, and Sika product lines, chosen to suit the specific assembly rather than a single house brand.
Warranty
BC's Building Envelope Renovation Regulation sets minimum warranty coverage for qualifying envelope work at 2 years for materials and labour and 5 years against water penetration. We provide warranty terms in writing with every proposal, meeting or exceeding those minimums, plus manufacturer warranties on the membrane systems used.

Frequently asked questions
What areas of a building need waterproofing?
Decks, balconies, foundations, planters, parkades, and all envelope transitions require dedicated waterproofing systems integrated with the overall assembly.
What is a rainscreen and why does it matter?
A rainscreen is a ventilated cavity behind the exterior cladding that allows water to drain and the assembly to dry. It is essential in Vancouver's wet climate to prevent long-term moisture damage.
How long have you been doing waterproofing work?
West Peak has 15 years of waterproofing experience across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, on residential, multi-family, and commercial buildings.
Do you warranty waterproofing work?
Warranty terms are provided in writing with every proposal. For qualifying building envelope waterproofing work, BC's Building Envelope Renovation Regulation sets minimum coverage of 2 years for materials and labour and 5 years against water penetration — we meet or exceed those minimums, plus manufacturer warranties on the membrane systems used.
