The problem
The homeowners noticed a soft spot and discolouration on a kitchen wall that had been slowly worsening for weeks before they called for an assessment.
They were concerned about mould given how long the leak may have been present.
What we found
A slow leak at a supply line fitting behind the wall had saturated the drywall and insulation over an estimated six to eight weeks.
Early-stage mould was present on the back of the affected drywall panel but had not spread to adjacent framing.
The solution
After the plumbing leak was repaired, we removed the affected drywall and insulation, treated the framing, installed new drywall and insulation, and matched the existing knockdown texture before repainting.
Result
The wall was fully restored with no visible seam between old and new texture. Follow-up moisture checks confirmed no recurrence.
